MOD Pizza Raise Money For Charity

Ground-breaking US pizza brand, MOD Pizza, celebrated their grand opening inBrighton Marina on Thursday 11 August to a crowd of future MOD Pizza fans. As part of their community initiative, they chose to support Rockinghorse for their opening day.

The efforts paid off with MOD Pizza presenting a cheque to local children’s charity, Rockinghorse, for £1,653. Brighton Marina makes it MOD Pizza’s second location in the UK, bringing their superfast made to order pizza and salad offering to the Brighton food market; something that is completely unique to the city.

MOD Pizza pledged to donate 100% of all food sales from the day, and raised £1,653 to help make life better for sick children in Sussex. As the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital(the Alex) in Brighton, Rockinghorse raises money for items necessary to every child’s treatment; from furnishings and toys for the wards, through to cutting-edge diagnostic machines and life-saving medical equipment.

Analiese Doctrove, Head of Fundraising at Rockinghorse, joined MOD staff in Brighton Marina for an official cheque presentation. She said: “We were delighted to partner with MOD Pizza in Brighton Marina for their grand opening event as part of their community outreach programme. They have raised a fantastic amount of money to support sick children right here in Sussex, and we are so grateful for their support – they are a brilliant team to work with.”

Jemma Morgan, Head of UK Marketing at MOD Pizza, added: “We’re thrilled to have teamed up with Rockinghorse for our Grand Opening Day charity partner. Rockinghorse is a fantastic charity and do some exceptional work for local children and the Brighton community and I’m really proud that MOD could help support and fundraise for such a great cause.”

MOD is a pioneer of fair-pay and a champion of second chances. Their main ingredient for success is their employees – known as the MOD Squad – who are encouraged to support their fellow employees and be active in the community. The restaurant is continuing to support Rockinghorse by offering specially organised pizza-making sessions for young patients from the Alex, and other children’s centres and services they support in Sussex.
