US chain MOD Pizza has confirmed plans to open its third UK restaurant in Gateshead later this year.
The ‘build your own’ pizzeria has secured a site at the intu Metrocentre shopping centre, opening on 10 November.
It is the third UK venue for the chain, which launched in Leeds and Brighton earlier this year.
“We are thrilled to bring MOD to Gateshead and to introduce the community to our incredible pizza and the special people-first culture,” said John Nelson, CEO of MOD UK.
MOD allows customers to create their own pizzas and salads from a choice of over 30 toppings for a fixed price of £7.47.
The brand has grown to over 130 US sites since it was created by Seattle Coffee Company founder Scott Svenson in 2008.
ow it is targeting a roll-out across the UK as part of a joint venture with Carphone Warehouse founder Sir Charles Dunstone, who also backs Five Guys in the UK.
A flagship Leicester Square restaurant is set to open in November, followed by Nottingham in December.
Dunstone said earlier this year that the group was ‘building the momentum’ for further growth in ‘2017 and beyond’.
